TELI (Teofilia Juravle)

Fribourg, Switzerland

TELI was born in Bucharest, where she began painting and designing as a child. While attending Şcoala Populară de Artă in Bucharest, she fell in love with the art of reverse glass painting in 2003. The third reverse glass painting she created already won an award in the national competition “Rugamu-de Tie”. Her first series of paintings is titled after her initials “T.I!”, which also stand for “Te iubesc”, “I love you”, in Romanian. So she depicts people, places, and things she loves: family, nature, the little things that make one’s life happy. TELI’s works come from an imaginary and poetic world – not surprisingly, as the artist reflects her compositions especially at night. Sometimes, her dreams inspire her. About her inspirations she says: “I find them everywhere: in my emotions, in my experiences, in my dreams. I even find them in a joke, in a song, in a color, or a memory.” TELI presents her reverse glass paintings in individual and group exhibitions. Most of her paintings are found in private collections.
